Athlete Spotlight – Brand Ambassador Jess

Here at Elite, we’re all about empowering and improving the confidence of the players on and off the court. This year, for the first time, we have player Brand Ambassadors at Elite Netball Academy.

Our Ambassadors will help raise awareness of Elite Netball Academy through their own stories and achievements within the game and amongst their peer group. Being an ambassador will give players additional skills off the court and give them a taste of what it’s like having additional responsibility within a team. We hope this programme helps develop players and creates responsible leaders who represent everything Elite is passionate about.

Our ambassadors nominated themselves to be selected and then a group of Elite Netball Academy coaches got together to pick an ambassador for each High-Performance Centre class. In this blog, we meet GA and GS, Manchester U15 Ambassador Jess.

Why did you want to be a Brand Ambassador?

To improve my confidence and leadership skills and I’d like to be the face of a very good, growing netball academy.

What are you most looking forward to doing in your role as an Elite Brand Ambassador?

I’m looking forward to raising awareness with my friends and teammates in Merseyside. I’m excited to show my other coaches and teammates around me how much I can grow on and off the court. I’ll enjoy blogging about the sessions and spending time with the coaches and asking them questions about their netball journeys.

How long have you been training with Elite?

I’ve been training with them since October 2022.

What do you enjoy about training with Elite?

I really enjoy the fitness sessions.

What are your favourite sessions at Elite?

My favourite sessions are the strength and conditioning/ speed drills and sprint sessions.

Tell us about the friends you have made at Elite

I have made lots of friends who I see outside of Elite at Manchester Thunder training and during regional matches. It’s nice to see familiar faces at games which makes me less nervous because I know the girls.

Meet Lancashire U13 brand ambassador Sophie

What would you say to anyone considering joining Elite?

DO IT! Since joining Elite, I was asked to trial for Manchester Thunder’s U14 pathway and was successful. Elite has definitely played a part in my selection and I know so many more girls now. It’s not very often that you get to meet England and Superleague players but now I get to work with them week in and week out.

Aspirations in netball

I hope to play for England and make a Senior Superleague squad.

What keeps you motivated

I’m motivated by my desire to improve and get fitter.

What’s it like getting training and support from Superleague players Natalie Metcalf, Nat Panagarry and Paige Reed?

I love being trained by Superleague players because I trust them and what they teach me. I know that one day they were in the same position as me with dreams to play for England so it makes me believe it’s possible.
