Announcement – University Netball Partnership
New Partnership with the University of Lancashire
We’re delighted to announce a new partnership with the University of Lancashire to support their Netball Performance Team and Scholarship recruitment.
Netball is one of the focal sports at the University of Lancashire. Our coaches, led by Head Coach and former student, Anna Carter, will seek to elevate the standard of netball at the University through weekly performance training sessions and support at games and tournaments throughout the year.
“As a former student and netball player at the university, I’m delighted to give back,” commented Anna, “there’s already an impressive netball programme in place. We hope to create an environment that further develops and enhances the university’s Netball Performance Team’s position in BUCS sport – a league that is famous for being fiercely competitive.
With our proven history of performance netball and expertise within the game, the University of Lancashire netball team can become renowned for being a strong, competitive team in the league.”
Kate Youngman, Sport and Community Development Manager at the University of Lancashire, hopes our involvement with the University side will attract exciting, young netball talent.
“In 2022, the University of Lancashire won their BUCS league and was promoted to BUCS Northern Tier 3. They have started 2023 as they mean to go, remaining unbeaten in this league and again promoted to Tier 2 for next season. Elite Netball Academy has an outstanding reputation, and its involvement in our Netball Performance Team will push us to new heights.
The strength of the netball team is evolving. Every year we look for new, young talent to join the University. Talented netball players can access scholarships (we have three levels – Bronze, Silver or Gold). Currently, there are six netball scholars in the team.
We also offer a financial incentive of up to £5,000 cash to support essential elements of any performance athletes’ journey, such as physiotherapy, strength and conditioning training, nutrition or psychological support. In addition to weekly coaching, Anna and the team at Elite Netball Academy will help us identify potential University of Lancashire athletes and assess their suitability to join our performance netball team on a scholarship.
We are actively recruiting netball scholars looking to represent the University of Lancashire in BUCS sports or BUCS Para sport. For more information, please head to our scholarships page.”
The partnership with the University of Lancashire started in February 2023 – keep your eyes peeled to see how it evolves. We’ll share updates on the team’s performance on our social media channels and website throughout the year.
