From winning the National U16’s Club title with a Lancashire club to landing her dream job at Leeds Beckett University coaching the Yorkshire Jets, our head coach and founder Anna Carter has an impressive netball CV as a player and a coach. In 2018 she took Super League club Loughborough Lightning to the Grand Final, has been a pathway selector for England, as well as a technical support coach for the senior team and has spent time in Australasia learning from some of the best coaches in the sport. On top of Anna’s netball credentials, she also holds a degree in psychology.

As the founder of Elite Netball Academy, Anna wants to push the overall standard of netball by investing in young athletes, somewhere they can learn, grow and improve. A strong believer in equal opportunity, Anna wants Elite Netball Academy to give all athletes the opportunity to access quality coaching to push their game to the next level and explore their true potential. Anna is a driven individual and puts passion into everything she does. Hard work breeds success and through giving 100% at every training session, she believes players can progress, enjoy the game and be a positive contributor to the team they play with.

The vision for Elite Netball Academy under Anna’s guidance is to create unique opportunities and progressive experiences through the sport that last and transcend into every aspect of an athlete’s life, on and off the court. The Academy’s approach encompasses the athlete considering every aspect of development from on-court play, to strength and conditioning, nutrition and overall wellbeing.

Anna’s love for netball feeds down into the athletes that she works with, guiding players on their netball journey ensuring they have everything required to make it at the highest levels of the sport. Not only will players be equipped with fitness physical, Anna is also keen to impart her years of experience in aspects such as mental toughness, building resilience as well as ensuring athletes work well with others to become a true all-round athlete and a team player.

And Anna’s vision for the game of netball? To go fully professional with players being household names while earning a living doing the sport they love day in, day out. To have netball in the Olympics would be a huge step in making the game popular across the world and one that Anna believes is achievable if the right things can happen in the sport.

When she’s not leading a team of young athletes on the netball court, Anna can be found pounding the pavements or studying for her personal training qualification which she is doing to understand the whole athlete. Family time is high on the priority list as is taking five on the sofa with a cup of tea.
