We’ve started the New Year with a new team member! We’re very excited to officially introduce the newest member of the Elite Netball Academy coaching team, coach Ebony Greatorex. Ebony has an impressive netball CV as a player and coach having represented Team Bath at U21 level and more recently as a coach for a Regional 1 level netball team. So, let’s get to know our newest recruit Ebony a little bit more!
What’s your favourite thing about netball coaching?
Throughout my playing and now coaching career, netball has provided me with a purpose. It’s now offered a career pathway that I am working up day by day and also the chance to explore the world. Being able to connect with people within the netball community, I have made some great friendships over the years that I’m sure will last for a lifetime.
Where do you get your netball coaching inspiration from?
My coaching inspiration has come from a variety of sources; past and present netball coaches, resources from the internet, different sports. I love learning new drills to implement into my session plans and seeing how they play out but also adapting drills for each and every player to help them achieve their goals.
What attracted you to being a netball coach at Elite Netball Academy?
Over the last 15 years, I’ve worked my way up through the England Performance Pathway. Experiences such as playing for England Nets U18 and Team Bath U21, are memories that I will cherish forever. I’ve also had opportunities to coach at National School and Club Finals, which have helped develop me into the coach that I am today!
“Throughout my playing and now coaching career, netball has provided me with a purpose.”
Do you still play netball?
I currently play for Morrisons Netball Club, where I am Head Coach/player for the Regional 1 team. And work-wise, I currently work alongside Anna Carter as a Sports Graduate/Netball Coach at The Grammar School at Leeds.
What coaching qualifications do you have?
I have a UKCC Level 2 netball coaching certification and C Award umpiring qualification. I also have a Sports Performance degree that I obtained during my time studying at the University of Bath which helps equip me with an all-around knowledge of the netball athlete.
Ebony will be helping us across all our netball classes and netball camps, if you’d like to know more about the netball classes we offer click here.
