Designed by Elite Netball Academy, the Schools Award programme is for pupils to learn and develop core netball skills by setting and aiming for personal challenges in a structured, progressive way. We provide all the information and assets you need to make your Schools Award programme a success including certificates so the children’s achievements can be recognised at every level.
The Schools Award programme offers a National standard for netball skills and is structured to encompass all physical skill abilities. All supported by an assessment framework and award certificates on completion of each level. The programme is designed to be incorporated into Physical Education lessons.
The Schools Award programme consists of five levels: Butterfly, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Certificates are awarded upon completing each level.

Who is this for?
Suitable for students in years 3 – 11.
What does the Schools Award Programme do?
- Allows students to progress through the awards at their own pace
- Supports PE assessments
- Provides progress data and a structured set of skills children can be working towards alongside PE lessons to support the development of games-based skills.
- Set and aim for a personal challenge
- Certificates awarded for every level of achievement
The Butterfly award is suitable for SEND and lower ability groups.
Children will develop an understanding of core netball skills, they will also learn about goal setting and working towards this. It is a fun, inclusive way to introduce the game of netball for young athletes.
